The Heron’s Nest Is Ready!

If you’re not on our mailing list you might have missed it, but we released the first official iBlueYonder scenery yesterday. That’s right, The Heron’s Nest is live!
 
If you’re on the list, you already have a link to download it for free. If you’re not a subscriber yet, all you have to do to get it is sign up using the blue box to the right of this post. In the meantime, here’s a great little video, courtesy of our good buddy Nathan Palmer, to show you what you’re missing…

    Looks great -have all your stuff through FlightSimStore.On Subscription List and await link!
    On another note -can we anticipate a P3D v3 version of Tongass Fiords?
    Your Scenery is so good that I have this glaring hole in my P3D v3.1 setup as I and many others transition to P3D from FSX
    What are your thoughts on P3D v3.1-can we hope?
    I know that there are ways of transitioning “stuff” from FSX to P3D but bad experiences with Migration Tools and inserting and removing files leave the more technically challenged defeated.

    Holger, Francois and I haven’t discussed a P3D3x update for Tongass, but I agree that it’s a good idea. I’ll bring it up with them and see if there’s any interest.

    Love Herons Nest but have to disable my Pilots mesh otherwise the runway is unusable due to bumps and dips . Is there a fix for this or am I doing something wrong.

    Thx for this lovely scenery.

    Hi Bill,
    I am running P3D v3.1 – Windows 10
    Viva.dll is giving me a problem. After warning me that it might give me a crash, it did. I tried again and it was great until I pulled out of the Hangar. Then significant elevation problems occurred. Huge gullies appear immediately to the left of the Hangar where I suspect the runway might be.
    It seems to work for others. I hope you can help me fix this.
    It promises to be beautiful from what I can see,.

    Rolf, you must have missed the email I sent out yesterday about the new 1.01 version of the Heron’s Nest that I updated. It supports P3Dv3 now – viva should just silently work, and your elevation problems should be fixed. Check your email for the message and follow the download link. Or, if you have your email from the original release still, you can use that link as well. I replaced the 1.0 file with this new one. Just download and run the installer.

    So there’s still a problem with the FTX Global Mesh? Lance at LCSims provided a mesh fix that’s included in v.1.01 that should have cleared up any problems with add-on mesh.

    Unfortunately yes. I’m with 5m mesh res. and FTX Global, and there’s a kind of “speed bump” hill on the beginning of take off roll on rwy04, just after the hangar, which makes almost every aircraft type jump on it, and crash most of the time.

    Interesting. The FTX Global mesh shouldn’t matter in this case. I’ve only seen that hump appear before on 2m or finer mesh resolution. For everyone else, it’s cleared up when using 5m. Are you positive you’re set to 5m?

    You’re right, this is not related to FTX Global, I’ve disabled it and the hump continues there. 100% positive, I’m at 5m.
    It only flattens when I set mesh to 19m or more. There’s also that huge depression near Rwy 22, but I guess that’s the way it should look, right?

    Hi Bill
    I have this item in FSX and P3Dv3.1
    Runway the same in both.
    From the middle of the runway it slopes dowmhill to the house
    The other way has a large Dip near the end of the runway.
    Full FTX Orbyx Global plus Pilots Mesh- set at 5m
    There is no doubt that increasing the Mesh Setting flattens out the Dip.

    Can confirm that the mesh problem still exists.
    If I disable my Pilots mesh and reduce the default mesh to 10m or softer its usable. If I put the default mesh up to 5 or 1 the bump at the house end is to harsh and if I then enable the Pilots mesh the runway is unusable, high at both ends and then drops sharply immediately after the bump runs over a series of smaller humps then a sharp rise towards the end of the run. Hope this helps.

    Hi Bill,
    Thank you for V 1.01. Unfortunately still have the elevation problem. I turn left get about 50′ and I look down a 150′ drop where the runway continues to a tower like structure where the runway appears to finish on top of the mountainous structure.
    Incidentally the viva.dll notice keeps popping up everytime I activate P3D.v3.

    Hey Bill,

    I’m in the same boat as Rolf, minus the viva.dll notice (P3d v3.1, 5m mesh, viva.dll entry is in the DLL.XML file, and an insane chasm between one end of the runway and the other; it actually goes down below sea level on my setup). Let me know if it would help to send you a screen grab.

    We’re going to get to the bottom of this mesh issue and get it fixed for good. Can I ask anyone who is having trouble to do two things?

    1. Make a post on the iBlueYonder support forum at http://forum.simflight.com/forum/168-iblueyonder-support/ and

    2. Include a screenshot of what you’re seeing, just for reference.

    It seems the viva-P3D.dll is not working in the new P3Dv3.2 version. Am I correct or am I missing something? Many thanks!

      I’ve got a new version of the DLL to test for P3D 3.2, but I’m away from the office for a few more days. Once I get back, I’ll clear it for release and send it out.

    The current release is for P3Dv3.2. You can either follow the link in your original download email, or if you have an installer already, install it and then use the new viva.dll version mentioned above your comment.

    My newly Updated P3D v3.3 will crash with current viva_P3D.dll Version 3.3.3.17556.
    This is shown at P3D startup
    Is this just me or do I need an update?
    PS I still have that large dip at the end of the runway-tried everything but no joy
    such a beautifull airstrip and OK for STOLs but I want to try bigger machines!

    I just downloaded Prepar3D v3.3.3. I have Heron’s Nest ver: Prepae3D v3.1 and it’s working just fine. Will I need the Prepar3D v3.3.3 ver? If so, where can I get it?

    Thanks, Rafael. I’m still waiting for the new version of viva.dll from the developer. Patience, folks – 3.3 has only been out for a couple of days. It takes time once the release is finalized to create a new dll that is guaranteed to work with it. It shouldn’t take too long, but it’s out of my hands.
