Nantucket is one big step closer to done!

Hallelujah! Finally, after dinking around with it for weeks, I’ve basically completed the main terminal at Nantucket Memorial Airport. I say basically, because even as I watched this batch of screenshots rendering, I realized that there were a few things I meant to fix and/or add before the final. Maybe we need an ice bucket challenge to fight perfectionism.

At any rate, here are a few renders of the terminal from Blender. They’re a bit darker and more contrasty than the final object will be in the sim, but you can get an idea of how it’ll look. This is far and away the most complex single building I’ve made for a scenery project to date.

The end of terminal modeling is also the light at the end of the tunnel for modeling the airport in general, as there are only the fire station, fuel farm, and a few small assorting buildings left to complete. Compared to this beast, they’ll be a walk in the park.

It looks stunning Bill! It will definitely go to the top of the “dear, I need this one” list.

Looks great, but if I may ask: why only black and white screenshots ? Although, the blue in the shield seems to be coloured.

      August 30, 2014, 10:31 am

LOL, Bram. They’re color shots, it’s just that the terminal is predominantly gray shingles and white trim. Don’t worry, it’ll look a lot livelier with all the greenery added in. 😉

Ah, okay, now I understand. Looking forward to the coloured elements 😉 !

Wow, that Nantucket terminal building is massive, the equivalent of a small city. Congratulations!

This is just perfect. Don Paqutte flies frim 2B2 Plum Island Airport to Nantucket, almost every week. He flies the blue and white Cessna 219 (RG) You have pictures of it tied down next to the fuel pump. at Plum.
I know he’ll welcome this to his version of FSX.

I thought it was a b&w photo or fine drawing. Really fine work Bill which I will own even though I’ve been west coast only so far.

    Well done, Cal

Due to all the corners and angles and such, I knew this one was going to be a developers challenge and Bill you knocks this one out of the park! This December, I’m buying a new box truck and putting my sim in it and cant wait to share simming with other real pilots out by the airport with this addon in P3D. A lot of good will come out this having such a detailed airport like this.

This is really looking great, I don’t think I’ve paid so much attention to the development of a scenery addon before. I cant wait to get this!

Bill do you know if you’ll fix some of the issues with runways on the immediate islands off of nantucket? one is elevated off the island and shouldn’t be there anymore (is washed away) and the other causes a block to extend out the normal shape of the island. Can’t recall the names but they are the two most immediate islands west of nantucket, one is a small seal sanctuary, not sure about the other.

Tuckernuck and Muskeget will definitely be included, CJ. And yes, I’ll make sure the strips there are updated accordingly.

Dude I’m still checking your 3D graphic model scenery of Nantucket and it’s amazingly gorgeous models. Your attention to detail is flawless. I appreciate your work immensely!
Not to many model developers out there that work on small airports like you do. Great job!
I used to live in Brooklyn N.Y. We used to take short hops up there. Thanks for developing and creating this scenery.
