Heron Island Tour - a quickie

Post by Jethro7 » Fri May 12, 2017 12:24 am

Hello Bill Womack,

I have only recently discovered your website, and found your Heron's Island v2.0. I would like to say a very big thankyou for this charming scenery. Installation was trouble free, the SODE module installed trouble free (Although I haven't used SODE before, I'm sure there will be some info about what it does on the forum). I also found a support post with new ( 10ME_ADEX_iby.bgl ) to fix the water pathway/depth to the boat shed, my first effort I ran aground 20 meters out but the new file had saved me a steep pontoon repair bill.

I started my first flight from the 00ME hangar turning onto the runway in a C152 the scenery looks perfect. What a magnificent, secret little hideaway. Quick check- (spectacles testicals wallet and watch), a drink and a smoke and my wetsuit. And where away, lights, throttles up full, flaps 1. Will I end up in the water, 60kts just before the last hump (a little slow), I can see the barriers, no time to abort, pullback on the yoke, and where airborne. The last hump gives you a slight lift, good to know in future T/O's.

Then a quick aircraft change and reset in the Boat shed 10ME and Cessna U206 Soloy Amphibian. I Started in the shed facing the back wall thankfully the U206 amphib can reverse thrust. Reversed her out and followed the red/ green marker bouys because I was uncertain where the runway was, followed them all the way out, turned left parallel to Heron's then throttled up for takeoff. Once or twice around the Island to check I hadn't left the fire place lit, oh' blast! smoke still coming from the chimney, I'll just have to head back.

Beautiful work Bill, I might take a look at what Nantuckett has to offer.
Cheers Jeff (Jethro)

Great pics, Jethro! Looks like you're enjoying island living. Your shader setup is interesting - I've not seen many screenies with that particular balance of colors and contrast. Are you running FSX or P3D?

Thanks Bill,

Yes I love the seclusion of your little Island, I'd be as happy as you know who! if I could find a real island for a bargain basement price. But until then Heron's Nest will be my virtual hideaway. O'h Btw it looks magnificent after dark down by the boat shed, shed lights on marker bouys lit, amphib started, lights on, waiting for me to come down from the house.
I also have an addon for star creation called AutoStarX which fills the sky with bright twinkling stars and a rep of the milky-way. Absolutely sensational when looking from the house, boat-shed or jetty.

About the Shader mods I am using, do you think they look good or not quite or just an interesting blend (since we all have different tastes with regard to on screen colours and shading), I use a combination of Shader mods. No (DX10 stuff)

Firstly I am running FSX:A boxed version Deluxe Gold, with only DX9 default All scenery sliders max except 2xHigh Water and 5m Mesh resolution.

EMB (JV's Purple haze)
Mogawai SHADE 1.02 (Ethereal Skies)
FSWC 3.15 Full (FSWaterConfigurator) my own personal Profile (here's a pic) I was just too lazy to type out each slider % and header

Cheers Jeff (Jethro)
