Heron's Nest XPlane: Great so far! Needs a few tweaks

Post by hamoody » Thu Dec 07, 2017 6:22 pm

First, I want to thank the dev so much for bringing this fun little airport to XPlane! It makes for a cozy little home base and is located in a beautiful area of the country. While I've been enjoying it a lot since release, I feel that there are some small things that could make it even better:

1) The trees appear to have a very thin white layer around their borders- this appears to be an image editing artifact. When sitting on the runway at normal zoom they look OK, but from afar and very close it is very noticeable. It would be great if either the tree textures could be cleaned up, or maybe an alternate version supplied which uses the default trees instead of custom ones.

Notice how 'white' the trees on the island look in comparison to the other islands which are using the default trees:

2) When going down the runway, starting at the house/hangar side, there are two very noticable bumps in the mesh. The first is just past the 'transition', when the terrain starts to slope up, and the other is a little firther along. Because by the second one the aircraft will have gained a bit of speed, I'm often bounced into the air briefly. It would be great if these bumps could be smoothed out a bit, but I understand if you are limited in what you can do.

Finally, I'd like to suggest the addition of winter textures. Even though XPlane doesn't come with winter textures by default, I use one of the several winter texture packs available. Some other developers include winter textures that can be swapped in for the normal textures in their scenery. Being able to fly into a snowy Heron's Nest this winter would be lots of fun! I understand if this is outside the scope of a freeware project- this is just a wish/suggestion :)

Anyway, thank you so much for this great scenery and I can't wait until you bring your other airports to XP!
