First Blender Model Finished!

This is a little wonky, and might only be of interest to other developers, but I have to mention it anyway. Recently, I began experimenting with a new 3D modeling tool – an open source product called Blender. Right away, I liked the interface. But could I model FSX objects with it? As it turns out, yes, absolutely. Thanks to Felix “captX”, a member of the forums, there is a nearly fully-functional set of FSX object, material, animation, and exporter tools for Blender.

Tonight, I successfully exported my first FSX object using the new tools – a multi-material object, no less. Once I get the Blender – FSX workflow sorted out, I expect this will give my output a badly-needed boost. In the meantime, here ’tis: Nantucket’s new Blender-built hangar.

Looks fab, Bill. Have to look at the Blender myself. Hopefully not yet another nightmare like GMAX… 🙂
