Coming Soon: Siletz Bay!

Sorry to everyone who was enjoying my newly-revived Fanboy Friday posts. I’ve been too quiet the last few weeks. For what it’s worth, I have my reasons – some personal, some professional. The best news is the professional part: my next airport is drawing nigh! Without further ado, say hello to S45 – Siletz Bay State Airport. I first came across this little field back in July of 2011 on a trip to the coast. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew I’d have to add it to my list of projects. There’s just something about it that calls to me; the colors, the character, and definitely the location. Located just south of Lincoln City on the Oregon coast, this is an ideal airport for stop-overs on a coastal jaunt. I’ve read stories of fliers doing just that on their vacation runs, stopping overnight at S45 to pitch their tents under the wing.

It’s also well-placed to link several other Orbx PNW gems, including Stark’s Twin Oaks, Creswell, and Goheen. This will be one of my last PNW airports for a while as we’re moving focus to other regions, so enjoy. Development is about 75% done. It’s all down to details, ambiance, and all those “flows” now. This will also be one of the debut airports for our new CreatureFlow libraries, so be sure to bring your bug spray.

Here’s where it stands at the moment. Bear in mind, these are alpha screenshots and are bound to change in small (and less small) ways before release.

Looking forward to his one and Pearson too. I was hoping if my buddy and I flew you down to Tilamook you might think about doing that one too. It would be fun to taxi up to the air museum in the hanger in FSX like we do in real life. We would take you out of Pearson in a Grumman Tiger!

I’ve had Tillamook in my plans for ages. Now that Orbx wants to taper off building PNW airports, I’m not sure what its status is, but I’d still very much like to build it.
